- Race starts in Tacoma: 5:30pm, June 11, 2018
- Race ends in Port Townsend by: 6:30pm June 13, 2018
The Artful Sailor Whole Earth Nautical Supply has entered the redoubtable and irrepressible, Emiliano Marino, rowing TASWENS (pronounced: tahs'-vens) a 15.5’ Bolger Gloucester Gull dory as TEAM ARTFUL SAILOR in a grand Showdown on the Sound: Northwest Maritime Center’s Seventy 48, (70 miles - two days) human-powered boat race from Tacoma to Port Townsend, WA., on June 11, 2018.
The Artful Sailor is also sponsoring, the equally formidable small craft expert, Marty Loken, rowing a Colin Angus Oxford Wherry as TEAM GEEZER.
Marino plans to row down to Tacoma in time to race back with Loken: two venerable mossbacks with traditional craft amidst a crowd of mostly youthful fast-pacers pulling, paddling and pedaling contemporary craft. They all take off in the Foss Waterway, by the Museum of Glass and wend their way to Port Townsend for the finish; a Ruckus party on City Dock to conclude the Seventy 48 and celebrate the next day’s Race to Alaska.
